Harford Cycling Alliance is a group that was started in 2014 as a collaboration between Harford County cyclists and advocates from Bike MD. An all-volunteer group, Harford Cycling Alliance set out to determine what efforts were already underway to promote biking in Harford County. After contacts with city, county and state officials as well as clubs, schools, bike shops and others, we found that the county lacked a bicycle advocacy group. Currently, Harford Cycling Alliance is reviewing the Harford County Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan and reaching out to local elected officials.
The mission of Harford Cycling Alliance is to create a healthier, more livable Harford County by promoting bicycling for transportation, recreation and fitness; advocating for better bicycling conditions and transportation choices; and educating children, adults, and motorists about safe bicycling.
- Increase bicycling for transportation, recreation, fitness & increase bicycling safety through education and improved conditions
- Provide a forum and stronger voice for bicycling through collaboration among residents, government, businesses, schools, non-profits, clubs and other groups
- Improve bicycling conditions and choices both on and off road
We aim to have active participation from people and organizations from all parts of the county, all ages and all biking abilities. We are reaching out to bike clubs, schools, government, bike shops, tourism, businesses and other groups.
